Conduct Disorder (CD) is one of the most common psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents between the ages of four and sixteen. This course will look at what CD is, as well as the most common causes. This course will enable practitioners to better understand and deal with children and young people with CD, as well as the difficult behaviour that often comes along with it.

It is important to diagnose and work with children and young people with CD at the earliest age possible, to help them achieve to the best of their ability.

The learning objectives for this course are as follows:

1. To gain a better understanding and tolerance of the often-challenging behaviours associated with children and young people affected with conduct disorder
2. To gain the confidence and skills to positively assist children and young people to change anti-social behaviours to pro-social behaviours
3. To gain a basic understanding of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD)
4. To help practitioners develop the insight and skills necessary to deal with these behavioural difficulties and modify them at the earliest possible age
5. To learn appropriate management techniques known to improve behavioural difficulties of children and young people with conduct disorder

This course will ensure your practice is in line with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage, The Early Years Framework and The Foundation Phase. It will also support your continuous professional development in line with the Early Years Teachers Standards.
