This course deals primarily with the unexpected death of babies – something you need to be aware of in an early years setting. Some sudden and unexpected deaths can be explained by the post-mortem examination revealing, for example, an unforeseen infection or metabolic disorder. Deaths that remain unexplained after the post-mortem are usually registered as SIDS or SUDC
The course will ensure you know what SIDS is, what might cause SIDS, and which children are most at risk. It will also cover different sleep positions to ensure the babies in your care sleep as safely as possible.
