The Forest School Approach is an inspirational process that offers young children regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence through hands-on learning in a woodland environment. In recent years, this approach has been praised for its therapeutic qualities as well as enabling a child to develop a natural curiosity for the world around them.

This course is for all teachers and co-professionals that work with children. The course will give staff an introduction to the method, with opportunity to explore and plan for opportunities to use the approach.

The learning objectives for this course are as follows:

1. To have an understanding of the Forest School approach and what the principles and practice in Forest School looks like
2. To know why the Forest School approach is good for children
3. To link the EYFS with the Forest School approach to learning
4. To know how to develop and use the Forest School Approach in your own setting
5. To understand the role of the adult in sessions
6. To plan possible activities with the Early Learning Outcomes Framework

This course will ensure your practice is in line with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage, The Early Years Framework and The Foundation Phase. It will also support your continuous professional development in line with the Early Years Teachers Standards.
